Prayer of Entrusting the Church to Mary

Pope Visits Saint Mary Major Basilica in Rome first day after his election.

O Mother of all peoples; you know all their sufferings and their hopes.

You maternally feel all their struggles between good and evil, between the light and the darkness which shake the world.

Receive our cry, directed in the Holy Spirit straight to your Heart and, with the love of the Mother and Handmaid of the Lord, embrace the individuals and peoples which most look for this embrace, together with the individuals and peoples to whose trust you attend in a particular way.

Take the entire human family under your maternal affection, O Mother, we entrust it to you. May the time of peace and liberty approach for all, the time of truth, justice and hope.

Just Breathe – Willie Nelson

Just Breathe (Featuring Lukas Nelson) by Willie Nelson on Grooveshark

Just Breathe by Iconic Band Pearl Jam:
Yes, I understand that every life must end, uh-huh
As we sit alone, I know someday we must go, uh-huh
Oh I’m a lucky man, to count on both hands the ones I love
Some folks just have one, yeah, others, they’ve got none

Stay with me…
Let’s just breathe…

Practiced all my sins, never gonna let me win, uh-huh
Under everything, just another human being, uh-huh
I don’t wanna hurt, there’s so much in this world to make me bleed

Stay with me
You’re all I see…

Did I say that I need you?
Did I say that I want you?
Oh, if I didn’t I’m a fool you see
No one knows this more than me

As I come clean…
I wonder everyday, as I look upon your face, uh-huh
Everything you gave
And nothing you would save, oh no

Nothing you would take
Everything you gave…

Did I say that I need you?
Oh, did I say that I want you?
Oh, if I didn’t I’m a fool you see
No one knows this more than me
And I come clean, ah…

Nothing you would take
Everything you gave
Hold me til I die
Meet you on the other side…

Willie and his son, Lukas Nelson, perform “Just Breathe” live at the Farm Aid concert in Hershey, Pennsylvania on September 22, 2012. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid’s board of directors in 2001.

Farm Aid’s performances are donated by the artists in order to raise funds and raise awareness for family farmers.

Joseph the Worker

438px-Georges_de_La_Tour._St._Joseph,_the_CarpenterHumanity is like God not only in thinking and loving, but also in creating. Whether we make a table or a cathedral, we are called to bear fruit with our hands and mind, ultimately for the building up of the Body of Christ.

“The Lord God then took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden, to cultivate and care for it” (Genesis 2:15). The Father created all and asked humanity to continue the work of creation. We find our dignity in our work, in raising a family, in participating in the life of the Father’s creation. Joseph the Worker was able to help participate in the deepest mystery of creation. Pius XII emphasized this when he said, “The spirit flows to you and to all men from the heart of the God-man, Savior of the world, but certainly, no worker was ever more completely and profoundly penetrated by it than the foster father of Jesus, who lived with Him in closest intimacy and community of family life and work. Thus, if you wish to be close to Christ, we again today repeat, ‘Go to Joseph’” (see Genesis 41:44).

Keep the Flame of Faith Alive

A Life of Joy

Joy is the undoubted presence of God in our lives!

4 Threats to Joy:

1. Self pity: I become the center of my thought and energy instead of Jesus and the people he puts in our path.

2. Worry turns the focus inward and steals joy

3. Happiness depends on something outside of myself.

4. Complaining

Joy comes from gratitude and praise.

Full Moon Over Wellington, New Zealand January 2013

From Mark Gee:
“Full Moon Silhouettes is a real time video of the moon rising over the Mount Victoria Lookout in Wellington, New Zealand. People had gathered up there this night to get the best view possible of the moon rising. I captured the video from 2.1km away on the other side of the city. It’s something that I’ve been wanting to photograph for a long time now, and a lot of planning and failed attempts had taken place. Finally, during moon rise on the 28th January 2013, everything fell into place and I got my footage.

From the magnitude of the visuals, to the intimate stories playing out with the people, to the sheer humbling nature of seeing the awe-inspiring reality of this giant rock in the sky that we so often don’t stop to appreciate, I recommend watching this on the biggest screen you can.
