Pope Francis: God never tires of forgiving us

The Lord never gets tired of forgiving, though we tire of asking his forgiveness. These were some of the words of the new Bishop of Rome, who celebrated Mass in the parish of St. Ann in the Vatican on Sunday. Pope Francis said that the Son became man to bring the hearts of all the infinite mercy of God. Benedict XVI as Teacher

Benedict XVI published three encyclicals throughout his eight year pontificate, the first just eight months after his election as Pope. It is titled Deus Caritas Est, “God is Love,” and delves into a reflection of human and divine love.

Benedict XVI Pontificate
Benedict’s pontificate on ecumenical questions:
– Reached out to the Eastern Orthodox
– Set up a structure for Anglicans to return to Rome
– Began the process of reconciling the traditionalist Society of St Pius X
– Extended the use of the Traditional Latin Mass
– To (among other things) preclude further traditionalist schisms
– Approved the issuing of a very important document that makes the Catholic Church’s understanding of ecclesiology, which must be the basis for any ecumenical dialogue, crystal-clear.

Detachment from things of this world

Fr. Dwight Longenecker, in Listen My Son: St. Benedict for Fathers, offers a succinct explanation:

993150_faithChristian contemplative prayer is not detached from the world. Instead, as Cary-Elwes says, it is “a deep longing or attachment with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and all our being for God.” Subsequently the Christian is also attached to all other created things with a love which flows from his primary attachment and longing for the Creator himself. The pure Christian heart is “detached” from created things not because he despises them, but because he loves their Creator more.
