Footprints in the Sand (original version)

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

“You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”

The Lord replied, “The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.”

“Christmas” sign removed, then restored

PHILADELPHIA – A “Christmas Village” sign at a market near City Hall was changed to a more generic “Village” sign after complaints about cultural insensitivity, reported Reuters.

The change, however, immediately brought a swarm of protest. “If we are to be a truly diverse and inclusive community, we must certainly be respectful of all the various celebrations that occur during this time of year,” the Archdiocese of Philadelphia said in a statement. “Christmas deserves its rightful place among those.”

After the story hit the Internet more calls came in from around the country.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter told Reuters that after reflecting on the matter, he asked the market’s manager to restore the word “Christmas” because the market, which sells gifts for the holidays, is a business and not a religious site.

The Flash Mob Choir that inspired millions

Past flash mobs have been fun to watch, like when an organized group shows up in a department store and slow dances in sync, but this is one flash mob with a message, and it’s already racked up over 10 million views on YouTube:

Shared Story: I never met my father…

I never met my biological father. This left a spiritual wound within me.

Later in life, I married a Joseph at St. Joseph Chapel in St Joseph County on St. Joseph Lake. Then after roaming for ten years, we bought our first home in St. Joseph, Mi and go to St. Joseph Church.

Saint Joseph, patron of all patriarchs, has been a light in my life, a sign from God.

God sent me signs all along to heal the spiritual wound. If I hadn’t noticed, I’d still be hurt. St. Joseph lights my way.

Let There Be Light…

Today is LightsMyWay’s birthday! It’s also the day the Church celebrates the Immaculate Conception of Mary, so let us start with a passage from the most inspiring book of all time:

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw that the light was good.” – Genesis 1:1-3

LightsMyWay believes we all carry this original light source within us. And the way to reach the light is through the stories we share.

Sharing your faith story is an essential part to your mission on earth because it is original. There is no other story like yours. If you do not share your story, it will be lost forever. Sharing your story builds a bridge from your heart to the hearts of others. Share your story of inspiration, faith or hope, and lets light the way!

“Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony of God in them.”
